Upcoming Intellectual Property Protection Events

The EU-China Project on the Protection of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR2) will be hosting two upcoming events.

First, IPR2 will hold an EU-China training session for IP protection at trade fairs in Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province in eastern China on July 12. Click here for more information.

Second, IPR2 will hold an "International Seminar on Intellectual Property Protection of Software" in Dalian, Shandong Province in northeast China on June 23. Click here for more information.

IPR2 was launched in 2007 by the European Commission and the Government of the People's Republic of China. The objective of the project is to improve the effectiveness of intellectual property rights (IPR) enforcement in China.

IPR Seminar in Southwest China

On Tuesday June 8th, the China IPR SME Helpdesk, the Chengdu chapter of the EU Chamber of Commerce in China, and the Tianfu Software Park will host a seminar called "IPR Protection for European SMEs in the ICT Sector: Security and Software" in Chengdu, Sichuan Province.

The seminar will focus on key IPR issues such as online protection, software and data protection, copyrights, licensing and patents in China. In addition, participants have the opportunity to sign up for confidential, one-on-one advice about their IPR in China with qualified IP lawyers.

Luxury Automaker Audi Sues Chinese IP Regulatory Agency

Luxury automaker Audi is suing the Trade Review and Adjudication Board (TRAB) under the State Administration for Industry and Commerce (SAIC) for denying its application to register its A4 trademark in China. TRAB cited the lack of distinctiveness of the A4 trademark as the reason for its rejection of Audi's application.

The case was recently heard in the Beijing No. 1 Intermediate People's Court, but a ruling has not yet been issued. Read more here.
